Cooperation with Azerbaijan serves common interests and energy security – US official

The UK ambassador to Azerbaijan Carole Crofts said Azerbaijan and UK have strong ties.

According to her, the UK has been the biggest investor in Azerbaijan for a long time.

The UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson said she read the PM David Cameroon’s letter of congratulation in the 23rd Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition: “Britain is the biggest investor in Azerbaijan. Majority of investments are in oil and gas sector. However, we have potential to do more work. Over 400 British companies operate in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan hosted European Games last year. But this year, it will host the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I wish successes to Azerbaijan. British companies share their knowledge and skills in sport. We are ready to share this experience in the future too”.

US ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta noted importance of cooperation in energy security: “Cooperation among US, UK, EU and Azerbaijan is very important for energy supply of world countries and energy security. Today’s event and exhibition is significant”.

In turn, Robin Dunnigan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy in the US Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources, said cooperation between the two countries serves common interests and energy security: “During the 25 years of Azerbaijan’s independence, the US has been close partner of this country in common interests. Energy cooperation is a significant part of this cooperation”.

She also stressed importance of oil and gas exhibition which is held every year.
