Having achieved his title success at the Formula One circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain last month, Al Faisal has now set the bar high for the forthcoming races.
The 21 year old will be competing in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup for the third year in row but, buoyed by the back-to-back success of the GT3 Cup Middle East series, Al Faisal has promised 'to make a difference' and said that 'it is time to impress the world'.
The Omani's forthcoming campaign in the Supercup received a boost ahead of the opening race next month as he was drafted into the title-winning Walter Lechner Racing Team.
And giving a new dimension to Oman motorsports was the announcement on Sunday that – BWT, a global manufacturer of water treatment systems, will sponsor the Omani during the Supercup season.
The decision by an Austrian water technology giant [BWT], to ink a deal with Al Faisal underscores the progress made by him and the delighted Omani expressed confidence to impress in the Supercup campaign.
'I will be aiming for an overall top-eight finish in the one of the toughest GT3 races in the world, said Al Faisal, at an event to celebrate his back-to-back success in regional series.
Adding to the joy of Al Faisal and the gathering was the unveiling of his Porsche Supercup BWT-liveried car by the guests of honour, H H Sayyid Faher bin Fatik al Said and H E Dr Mohammad al Zubair, Advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for Economic Planning Affairs .
Al Faisal said, 'Following the success after a difficult season in the Middle East, my aim is to get better and prove myself in the Porsche Supercup. It is going to be a challenge but I am ready for it.'
Al Faisal admitted that competing with the world's best with Lechner Racing is going to be a 'different world' but his endeavour will be to 'impress the manufacturer teams'.
'My mission this season will just not be to compete in the Supercup. I would like to impress upon the manufacturer teams. To become a works driver is one of my future plans. It is a different league as then one is there with the world's top drivers in the best of championships,' said Al Faisal.
He added, 'Porsche Supercup has been one of the most competitive races and successful drivers have gone on to excel in other GT3 series too. So I am happy to take part in Supercup.'
Al Faisal gave enough hints that the forthcoming season will be crucial to his motorsports career and admitted to 'being under pressure to perform.'

'I know I have to deliver and it is time for me to chase results. I got a good idea of competition during the recent testing sessions in Barcelona, where I finished fourth,' he said.
Walter Lechner, founder of Lechner Racing Team, said, 'I have been impressed with Al Faisal since I first met him in 2017. He has matured over the past couple of years and the results justify his potential. I believe in his talent and that is the reason he has been included in our team.'
Lechner had a word of caution for Al Faisal and said, 'He has to perform and it would put him under pressure.'
The ten-round Porsche Supercup begins in Barcelona, Spain, from May 10-12.
Walter Lechner Racing Team joined the Porsche Supercup Championship in 2003. Since then, the team has won the team championship nine times and the drivers' championship seven times.
The team's German driver Michael Ammermüller won the title last year with Al Faisal finishing 16th among 40 drivers.
