Aston Martin backs Formula 1 team until 2030

Aston Martin has committed to Formula One until at least 2030, as the luxury carmaker doubles down on the sport by taking an equity stake in the team that bears its name.

The 111-year-old carmaker, which has endured a chequered time since its £4 billion float on the London Stock Exchange in 2018, has agreed to extend its sponsorship of its independently owned F1 team from 2026 to 2030, it can be revealed.

The Warwickshire-based company has also taken up an option to acquire a near-£20 million stake in the F1 team, formerly known as Force India, which was acquired in 2018 by the Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, who became executive chairman of Aston Martin in 2020.
